Op Ed discusses food safety legislation

I was interviewed recently by Jemma Brown, a student doing an op ed piece on proposed food safety legislation. She did a great job, and I hope everyone checks it out~!!~

John Mesko is a husband, father, farmer and educator and is passionate about food, food production and The Problem. The Problem is that globally, our food system and particularly in the US is increasingly detrimental to farmers, consumers and the planet itself.

John was educated in agriculture at Purdue University and worked in corporate agriculture for Mycogen Seeds and Dow Agrosciences as well as university extension education for several years. But for many reasons, John and Family yearned to be able to produce food themselves and make it available to people.

Lighthouse Farm was born in 2005, and now they market Grass-Fed, organic Beef and Lamb as well as Pastured Berkshire Pork. After getting the farm established, and doing their part, it became clear that John and Family needed to continue working on The Problem.

Now, as the Executive Director of the Sustainable Farming Association of Minnesota, John has joined a fabulous group of folks who work on The Problem every day!
